What is Lemon Mousse? 

Mousse de limão or Lemon mousse is a light and creamy dessert made with lemon juice, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream. The lemon juice thickens the mixture naturally, giving it a smooth, airy texture and a refreshing citrus flavor. Often served chilled, lemon mousse is popular for its balance of sweetness and tartness, making it a refreshing treat, especially on warm days.

 

How to Prepare It

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz or 395 g)
  • 1 can of heavy cream (14 oz or 395 g)
  • 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons)

Instructions:

  • In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk and heavy cream.
  • Gradually add the lemon juice while blending, and continue until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  • Pour the mousse into individual cups or a serving dish.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until it’s firm and chilled.

Extra tip: Make a crust layer with Maizena cookies and butter and place it underneath the mousse. If you like, you can also use white chocolate to decorate along with lemon zest.
